How to create a secure password

You may notice that upon logging in for the first time or after having your password reset, you will be asked to create your own password. Sometimes you may receive an error saying it does not meet the complexity requirements, potentially causing confusion and frustration at not being able to set your password. Below is a list of requirements that your password should meet in order to successfully set it.

  • It must contain at least 8 characters
  • It must contain both UPPERCASE and lowercase letters
  • It must contain at least one number
  • It must not contain your name or any other information about yourself

  • While not a hard requirement, you should also include a symbol such as %, &, £, !, etc, to further enhance security on your account.
  • We also recommend not using a password that you either currently or previously have used on another platform. This rule should be followed everywhere and not just on your school account.

Following the above steps, as well as having Multi Factor Authentication enabled when required, will ensure that your account and all of the information stored on it is private and secure.
